I study Community, Environment & Planning and Marketing at the University of Washington.
Introducing CEP Spring Retreat 2012
I am an energetic person, and with great energy comes great responsibility. My energy manifests itself in many forms: excitement, creativity, motivation, leadership, and change. These manifestations are neutral by nature, and can fluctuate in form from positive to negative. For example, excitement can be a powerful force that pushes a person beyond the expected, or it can distract them. Creativity can improve and expand a project, or paralyze it under the weight of a thousand ideas.
CEP is a force that harnesses my energy and gives it direction, and in return, I share that energy to motivate and enrich my community. CEP has improved my self-direction in life, work and school, my team management skills after numerous group projects, and my leadership tools through opportunities like facilitating classes, pointing Community Engagement Committee and Steering, and co-planning Fall and Spring Retreat.
Through active thought and engagement with my education, I have developed a curriculum that fulfills my goals by combining CEP with Marketing. Although it is not a typical combination, it involves my interests in sustainability, education, and community engagement. I will use marketing tools to empower communities with resources that environmentally focused organizations provide. I will also connect similarly focused organizations to create synergistic relationships.
During the next year, my focus will develop as I continue with my studies and gain experience through my internship at the Environmental Stewardship & Sustainability office. A more detailed explanation is provided in my Individualized Study Plan (ISP), a living document I created for CEP.
